Dianella caerulea 'Cassa Blue' and Strobilanthus gossypinus

Blue foliaged Dianella 'Cassa Blue' with silver and gold leafed Strobilanthes gossypinus
Dianella 'Cassa Blue' is one of the excellent plant introductions from the Ozbreed Company. It is a clump forming plant to about 45 cm with striking powder blue foliage and flowers on a tall stem which are like pale silvery mauve stars. It is versatile and can be included in both native and exotic planting schemes. In the photo above it is used as a contrast and foreground planting to the compact growing (1.5m) shrub Strobilanthus gossypinus This south Indian shrub has gained in popularity over recent years and is noteworthy for its stiff silver and golden hairy leaves .It tolerant of only light to moderate frost.but is both drought and heat hardy.
2017 update: The Strobilanthus is short lived and often dies after flowering.
