Cosmos sulphureus

Cosmos sulphureus
You gotta love this summer flowering Cosmos. It self seeds and comes back every year if the conditions suit it. I am using it as an edge planting to winter planted Asparagus crowns which are sending up lots of feathery plumes and growing very nicely. It will be a couple of years before I can enjoy the tender spears however.

  2. I love cosmos but have never heard of this type. Nice! I planted a couple of asparagus crowns...very spindly bits have come up. I think I am going to make a more concerted effort and plant more in the veggie garden. Any tips?

  3. Hazel, Asparagus plants always look a bit spindly for the first year. i feed mine almost every month with a side dressing of fertilizer and give them liquid seaweed as well.
