Echeveria elegans, Mexican Snowball

Echeveria elegans
This species has been around since 1905 and was no doubt discovered by an intrepid plant hunter risking life and limb in the high altitude areas of Mexico from where it originates. Was it growing vertically on a rock face like others from the region?
As a garden plant it is a terrific one to grow because it is very hardy and grows quite quickly forming neat evenly spaced rosettes to a metre across if given the space. It easy to detach the extra plants to grow more which makes it a great plant for beginner growers of succulents.
